Special Education Unit - SEU
|
Students with a disability often require educational adjustments to be made within the curriculum so that they can participate in the life of the school.
For some students this means that they may attend alternate classes, while others may access all or part of the regular curriculum.
REGULAR CURRICULUM Students who access the regular curriculum, may or may not receive support from SEU staff, depending on the needs presented by their individual disability. Classwork may be provided within the context of regular classes, but at a modified level appropriate for the student. Students studying regular subjects may also be withdrawn from class to study work at a pace that is more appropriate for their needs or a tutorial may be offered for these students.
ALTERNATE CURRICULUM For those students requiring an alternate program, some subjects can be studied through the Special Education Unit. These subjects are designed specifically for the individual needs of the students in those classes, and will therefore vary each year.
Subjects in the SEU include: · Essential English · Essential Mathematics · Everyday Living Skills/Social Program · Tutorial
