Senior Subjects
Pioneer offers students a broad range of Senior Subjects, and every effort is made to ensure that an appropriate pathway orientation and choice of subjects is made. To facilitate these outcomes, the following support is provided:
- A career education program is offered during SLS in Year 10;
- A subject selection evening is held at Pioneer in August each year;
- A special information evening on tertiary information procedures;
- Guidance Officer interviews and audit of all subject selections to collaboratively plan individual study programs;
- Ongoing academic, vocational and personal counselling as required;
- In the second semester of Year 10, students are offered the opportunity to study bridging subjects which provide them with an understanding of the demands and expectations of the related senior subjects and their assessment. They will also gain a clear understanding of the prior knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the related senior subject/s.
