Japanese
AFS
is a company which facilitates many school exchanges. In coalition with the
Japanese government, they are running a program to send 640 students from
Australasia to Japan for two weeks at the end of the year. It is completely
free. Students only need to organise flights to Brisbane and bring spending
money. At the moment, the keen Japanese students from Pioneer have just finished
the first stage of their applications. If they progress, interviews will be in a
couple of months. These students are also fundraising to send a student on
exchange, through AFS. It is hoped that this will improve students’ chances to
be awarded one of these scholarships, while being able to provide another
student with a wonderful cultural experience. - Shelby Ellacott
